December

Henderson Global Investors has appointed 3 new analysts to its credit team. Henri Alexaline, Marc Dallon and James Briggs join from ABN AMRO Asset Management, Bank of America Capital Management and BlueBay Asset Management respectively.

 

Richard Urwin is joining Merrill Lynch Investment Managers as head of the economics and asset allocation team in the new year. Urwin is leaving Gartmore to join Merrill Lynch and will report to head of investment strategy and research Ewen Cameron Watt.

 

Michael Seymour is to join Threadneedle Investments, from Deutsche Asset Management, as a global equity investment specialist representing the company's global equity team to consultants, clients and the media.

 

Framlington chief investment officer Jeremy Lodwick is leaving at the end of the year. Lodwick currently manages the Managed Growth fund which will be taken over by Chris Armstrong on Lodwick's departure. In the future Framlington fund managers will report directly to the group's chief executive officer, Robert Kyprianou.

 

HSBC UK Smaller Companies manager David Taylor has left the company with immediate effect with management passing to Colin Riddles, manager of the HSBC British fund and a number of institutional mandates.

 

Former Hendersons manager and Polar Capital founder Brian Ashford-Russell is to take a sabbatical in order to travel. As a result Ben Rogoff will take over management of the Polar Capital Technology Trust

 

Paul Marriage has joined Cazenove from Insight and will take over management of the UK Smaller Companies fund from Louise Nash.

 

Kieron Gallagher has joined Collins Stewart to run an Eastern European property investment trust.

 

Ascan Kokai joins Invesco Real Estate as assets and acquisitions manager, Hotels and Leisure, as a result of the increasing growth in the number of managed funds.

 

Michael Constantis has joined Merrill Lynch Investment Managers to work as an analyst on the European Equity team. Constantis, who was previously at Deutsche Asset Management, will cover telecoms and technology stocks and reports to head of European equities, James Macmillan.

 

Robert Mumby will join Jupiter Asset Management in January as an assistant fund manager to work with Philip Gibbs on the Financial Opportunities fund.

 

F&C have strengthened their UK small cap team with the appointment of Patrick Newens who will be focussing on the retail and media sectors. Newens previously worked on the F&C strategy team.

 

November

F&C chief investment officer Tony Broccardo is set to leave the group before the end of the year after incoming chief executive officer Alain Grisay decided to axe the role. Broccardo also manages the F&C Managed Distribution fund which in the short term at least will be taken over by deputy manager Paul Niven. Whilst the chief investment officer role has been dissolved Grisay has created the post of head of investments, with Fernando Ribeiro taking that position with immediate effect.

 

Threadneedle Investments have appointed Alex Robarts as a US analyst focussing on financial services and banking.

 

Neptune UK Equity fund manager Greg Bennett is set to leave next year or earlier if the right replacement is found.

 

Ruth Keattch has been appointed as head of research and investment director at Troy Asset Management. Keattch joins Troy from Deutsche Asset Management Limited where she was responsible for managing UK and European mid and small cap specialist funds and was manager of the DWS UK Smaller Companies and DWS European Smaller Companies funds.

 

Jane Shoemake has been appointed as an investment director on the Henderson Global Investors UK equity desk. Shoemake was previously responsible for institutional client relations at Threadneedle.

 

F&C bond manager Fatima Luis is expected to return to work later this month following a period of maternity leave.

 

Richard Colwell has taken responsibility for the Credit Suisse Asset Management Growth & Income fund, one of the three equity income portfolios currently managed by Errol Francis.

 

Alix Stewart is joining Scottish Widows Investment Partnership from Gartmore to run the Corporate Bond Plus fund. Current Corporate Bond Plus fund manager, Neil Murray, will continue running several other bond portfolios for the group. As a result of Stewart's departure the Gartmore Corporate Bond and Sicav Sterling Bond funds will be co-managed by Karl Bergqwist and Simon Surtees, with Gartmore High Yield Corporate Bond coming under Mark Wauton.

 

Jonathan Platt has handed the management of two of his Royal London Asset Management bond portfolios to Paul Rayner and Stephen Peirce. Management of the UK Fixed Interest and Index Linked portfolios will pass to Rayner and Peirce with the two being named as co-managers. Rayner will assume the majority of responsibility for UK Fixed Interest and Peirce for Index Linked.

 

Former Standard Life manager Hector Kilpatrick has taken charge of the SVM UK Alpha fund with Jeremy Hall becoming c0o-manager. It now seems that the recent appointees Hugh Cuthbert and Neal Veitch will manage the SVM Continental European and SVM UK Opportunities funds respectively.

 

SVM has appointed two new managers following a number of recent departures. Hugh Cuthbert and Neal Veitch both join from Kempen Capital Management. Their precise mandates at SVM are not yet known.

 

Glen Prentice has joined Morley Fund Management as a fund manager on the Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific equities team. Prentice joins from JPMorgan Cazenove and will report to head of Emerging Markets and Asian  Equities, Niall Paul.

 

Andrew Brown has been appointed as a junior fund manager by F&C Asset Management, working in the UK credit team.

 

October

Another departure from SVM sees Colin McLean taking charge of the Continental European fund. McLean takes over from Andrew Dykes who has resigned from the position after less than one month.

 

Andrew Brown has joined F&C Asset Management as a manager on the UK credit team. Brown was formerly a credit research analyst at M&G Investment Management, in the chemical and pharmaceutical areas.

 

Artemis have appointed Jacob de Tusch-Lec to their SmartGARP team alongside Philip Wolstencroft and Peter Saacke. He was previously a Pan European equity strategist at Merrill Lynch.

 

Jan Luthman and Steve Bailey have stepped down from managing the CF Walker Crips Corporate Bond fund, with management passing to Michael Sunderland, the group’s chief executive and analyst Jamie Clark. Bailey and Luthman are continuing to run the CF Walker Crips UK Growth fund.

 

Threadneedle Investments have announced that Leigh Harrison has been recruited to a new role as Head of UK Retail Investments. Reporting to Michael Taylor, Head of UK Equities, he will take on overall responsibility for the performance of all Threadneedle retail products which invest in UK equities and will personally manage the Threadneedle UK Equity Income Fund. Prior to joining Threadneedle Harrison was a Director and Senior Portfolio Manager, UK Equities at Credit Suisse Asset Management.

 

Daniel McKernan has joined Merrill Lynch Investment Managers as sterling credit fund manager. McKernan was previously head of credit at Aegon.

 

Elizabeth Eaton has assumed sole responsibility for the management of the Credit Suisse European Frontiers fund after co-manager Neil Gregson stepped down. Gregson, who is head of emerging market equities has looked after the portfolio since 2001 and has been co-managing with Eaton for some 15 months. He will now take a more direct role in CSAM's global emerging equity market products.

 

Ludo Mackenzie has replaced Rupert Sheldon as manager of the Henderson UK Property fund. Mackenzie had worked with Sheldon since March last year.

 

Gordon Elvey is joining JO Hambro Capital Management by the end of the year. Elvey currently manages US and European mandates for the British Steel Pension fund.

 

Mira Bhogaita joins Newton Investment Management Limited as an analyst in their global research team. Bhogaita will report to Simon Pryke, leader of global research at Newton and will be responsible for analysing mid-cap companies, particularly in the transport, property and leisure industries. Bhogaita joins from Deutsche Asset Management, where she was a UK equity analyst specialising in transport.

 

Rupert Sheldon has left his position as manager of the Hendersons UK Property fund to run the Palmer Active Value offering.

 

Michael Fry has joined Lazard Asset Management(Lam) as a managing director. Fry will join Lam’s global equity and global ex-US equity portfolio management teams as a senior portfolio manager. Prior to joining Lam, Fry was head of global equity portfolio management at UBS Gloabal Asset Management.

 

Jamie Hooper has been appointed as a replacement for Derek Mitchell on the F&C run Isis UK Select Trust. Although Hooper is also currently running the F&C UK Prime fund that may change after the Peter Lees led former DWS equity team join the group.

 

Former Jupiter Income manager William Littlewood is making a return to management later this year by running a global hedge fund at Artemis.

 

Holly Grainger joins Morley Fund Management in November as a credit analyst on the fixed income team. She joins from F&C and will report to head of credit analysis Tim Barker.

 

Paul Casson has left SVM to join Hendersons. Casson's SVM Continental Europe fund deputy, Andrew Dykes, will assume the lead management role for the fund.

 

Lee Freeman-Shor has been appointed as a senior analyst at Skandia. Joining Skandia from Schroders, Freeman-Shor will be responsible for US equity fund research and analysis, reporting to head of equity research James Millard.

 

Paul Marriage and Jeff Atherton are leaving Insight Investment. Marriage has been co managing the Insight UK Smaller Cap and Halifax Smaller Companies funds and is leaving to join Cazenove. His co-manager, Ed Robinson, will take on sole responsibility for the funds. Insight Japan Equity manager Atherton is joining Stratton Street Capital with head of Insight's international equities, David Marchant, taking over his fund.

 

Shari Davis has joined Morley Fund Management as an assistant fund manager within the firm’s property multi-manager team. She joins from DTZ Investment Management.

 

Roman Gaiser, currently at F&C, is to join Threadneedle taking over the European High Yield Bond fund as well as a number of institutional mandates.

 

Alastair McClaine is to run the Standard Life Ethical Bond fund due to be launched later this year.

 

September

Robert Graham-Brown, who was earlier reported to be leaving Threadneedle, is joining Morley Fund Management as North American equity fund manager for life and retail funds as well as the Aviva American Equity SICAV. He will report to head of North American Equities Penny Kyle.

 

Michael Gordon has relinquished his post as manager of the Fidelity Indian Focus fund in order to take on the chief investment officer role at the group. The former incumbent Simon Fraser has moved to an alternative role within the group. Gordon was also chief investment officer for the Asia Pacific ex Japan region. Kathryn Matthews has become CIO for South East Asia with the Indian fund now being managed by Sandeep Kothari.

 

Following the resignation of Lucette Yvernault, Jana Benesova-Tuma has taken over the management of three Citigroup fixed interest portfolios. She will manage the CitiBond European  Currencies, CitiBond European  Currencies Corporate and CitiBond Global Corporate portfolios along with senior portfolio manager David Zahn. Yvernault is joining Schroders later this year.

 

Joanna Munro has been appointed global chief investment officer at HSBC Investments. Munro joins from AXA Investment Managers and will report to Alain Dromer, global chief executive officer of HSBC Investments.

 

Threadneedle American Companies Growth fund manager Robert Graham Brown is leaving the company less than18 months after taking over the vehicle. Cormac Weldon, head of the US team and deputy on the fund, is running it in the interim until a replacement is found.

 

Neil Gardner has joined Morley as their first dedicated residential property fund manager, looking after the Beach Student Accomodation, TriInvestment Residential and Capital Residential funds. Prior to joining Morley Gardner was at Schroder Investment Management.

 

Sonja Schemmann is leaving DWS to join Schroders' global equities team and will run the recently launched offshore ISF Global Equities Yield product. She was senior manager for global equity portfolios at DWS and managed the DWS Top Dividend fund.

 

Gartmore have appointed 2 new members to their quantitative team. Gerald Campbell and Jeffrey Kerrigan join from Numeric Investors and Fidelity Investment Management & Research Company respectively and will report to head of global quantitative strategies, Mike Gleason.

 

New Star UK Growth fund manager Stephen Whittaker has been made joint chief investment officer at the company working alongside existing CIO Alan Miller. Whittaker will continue to manage the UK Growth fund.

 

August

Gartmore have appointed Jayne Stevlingson as a senior investment manager to work alongside US Smaller Companies fund manager Gil Knight. Stevlingson joins Gartmore from Altura Asset Management and will be based in Philadelphia.

 

Co manager of the Gartmore Continental European Smaller Companies and Pan European Smaller Companies SICAV's, Jonathan Sharpe is to leave the group to set up his own boutique. Sharpe was previously assisted by Moni Sternbac who now assumes sole responsibility for the funds.

 

Mark Hodges has replaced Sanjeev Shah as manager of the Fidelity UK Aggressive fund. Shah has moved to manage the offshore European Aggressive fund following the departure of previous manager David Baverez.

 

Scott McKenzie is leaving Morley Fund Management to join Martin Currie in November where he will run the Income fund. His deputy at Morley, Dan Roberts takes over from McKenzie with immediate effect.

 

First State British Opportunities fund manager Adam White has stepped down to be replaced in the short term at least by head of UK equities Paul Jourdan, though it is expected that recent recruit Casper Trenchard is to take over in the future.

 

Henderson UK thematic desk head Richard Carlyle is one of a number of staff to be leaving following the recent appointment of Graham Kitchen to lead the team. Other leavers are David Gillot, Natalie Briggs, Richard Wyatt and Graham Carerar.

 

Man Wing Chung has resigned his position as manager of the JPMorgan Fleming Chinese Investment Trust. Chung's assistant Edward Liu will continue to work on the fund and be the sole named manager until such time as a new appointment is made.

 

Alister Hibbert has joined Scottish Widows Investment Partnership’s European equity team as manager of the Scottish Widows European Select Growth fund. He takes over from Vincent Devlin who will continue to run several other European funds for the group, including its Scottish Widows European Growth and Swip European portfolios. Since leaving Invesco Perpetual in January 2004, Hibbert has worked for Oechsle International Advisors, where he also ran European money.

 

Sebastian Radcliffe has replaced Prakash Rajasekaran as lead manager on the Jupiter Global Technology fund while Derek Pound has replaced  Rajasekaran UK Growth Exempt fund.

 

Investec Assett Management have appointed Philip Rodrigs as a UK equity analyst, working with UK Smaller Companies manager Dan Hanbury. Rodrigs was previously an analyst at T Rowe Price.

 

Ben Akrigg has been appointed director of Pacific equities at F&C. Akrigg was previously a portfolio manager in the Aisa Pacific equities team at Morley.

 

Wholesale changes are taking place on the Threadneedle UK equity desk. Head of equities Michael Taylor is to take over the management of the UK Growth fund, with the fund's previous head Forsyth McGarrity and two other managers believed to be leaving Threadneedle. In addition, Taylor will also manage the UK Growth and UK Accelerando funds, as well as replacing previous UK equity head Graham Kitchen, who as reported earlier, recently left to join Henderson Global Investors.

 

As reported earlier John Wood is joining JO Hambro Capital Management from Newton, reportedly to recreate his UK opportunities fund.

 

Ciaran Mallon has been named manager of Invesco Perpetual Income & Growth following the earlier reported departure of Andrew Jones to Henderson.

 

July

Ben Russon has been appointed as manager of the Newton UK Opportunities fund to replace John Wood who is moving to J O Hambro. Russon has worked alongside Wood on the fund for a number of years.

 

Threadneedle's UK equity head Graham Kitchen is leaving to head up the UK Thematic team at Henderson Global Investors. Kitchen was also manager of the Threadneedle UK Select Growth fund. In a further related move, Invesco Perpetual Income & Growth fund manager Andrew Jones is joining Henderson's to work alongside Kitchen.

 

Tassius Chigariro is joining Britannic Asset Management’s liability driven investment team as an investment manager. Chigariro was previously a consulting actuary at Alexander Forbes Financial Services.

 

Nigel Stevenson has joined Veritas Asset Management as a global investment analyst covering companies across a range of sectors. Stevenson was previously with Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.

 

Axa Investment Managers have appointed Keith Robinson and Stephanie Walsh as fund manager analysts. Robinson joins from Isis Asset Management. Walsh had previously been with Morley as a Pan-European investment analyst.

 

Threadneedle have added two new names to their high yield team in order to replace a number of current members who are leaving to work for a hedge fund operation. David Backhouse is promoted internally within Threadneedle while Michael Poole will join from Muzinich & Company.

 

Leon Howard-Spink has joined Schroders from Jupiter to work alongside Denis Clough in the European team, along with another new member of the team, Gary Clarke. Clough will manage the European fund with Howard-Spink looking after the European Alpha Plus fund and Clarke taking charge of two offshore portfolios. Howard-Spink's replacement on the Jupiter European Special Situations fund is Cedric de Fonclare.

 

Management of the Rathbone Smaller Companies fund has passed from Carl Stick to Marina Bond, who was previously co-manager on the fund. Stick continues to manage the Rathbone Special Situations and Income funds. At the same time Rathbone CIO Julian Chillingworth has handed the management of the Global Opportunities fund to co-manager James Thomson.

 

Nick Ford is leaving Gartmore to join F&C as co-manager of the US Smaller Companies fund, alongside Robert Siddles, head of US smaller companies at the group. At Gartmore was co-manager of the group's US Smaller Companies fund with Gil Knight. Ford joins F&C on 15 August. Knight will take over sole management of Gartmore’s US Smaller Companies fund while the group looks for a replacement.

 

James Harries has re-joined Newton after leaving them to join Veritas 12 months ago. He has been appointed as a director of investment management on the global equity team.

 

Andrew Beal will take over as fund manager on the Henderson TR Pacific Investment Trust after a handover period, succeeding Michael Watt who is retiring. Beal joins Henderson from Nicholas Applegate Capital Management in San Diego.

 

Merrill Lynch Investment Managers have appointed Samantha Burden to manage investments in the global retail sector. Burden was previously with M&G where she managed the Blue Chip fund before being replaced by George Tsinonis. She will report to head of the global equity team, Ian Rowley.

 

F&C equity income manager Michael Gifford has left the company after his UK Growth & Income fund was taken over by ethical manager Ted Scott. His departure leaves Julian Cane as lead manager on the group’s UK Equity Income fund with immediate effect. Cane will also manage the UK equity portfolio of the F&C Managed Distribution fund.

 

Stuart Tan has joined Insight Investment's fixed income team and will be responsible for managing an absolute return bond fund in the Absolute Insight range. Prior to joining Insight he was with Auspex Group.s

 

Neil Turner has joined Schroders as head of international property investment and research and will take charge of the upcoming Global Properties Securities fund. He was previously head of European property at Alecta.

 

M&G Global Technology fund manager Greg Kerr has left the group and been replaced by Aled Smith. This change comes as M&G are establishing a global equities team led by Graham French.

 

June

Stuart Harris is taking over management of the Credit Suisse Asset Management Smaller Companies fund from Crispin Finn. Harris has been working alongside Finn, who moves into the deputy position, for the past three years. He also co-manages CSAM’s Fellowship fund with with Suzie Kemp.

 

Tim Thomas has joined Morley as head of equities from business consultancy McKinsey.

 

Stephen Swift is to join State Street Global Markets as vice president of its UK equity sales team. Swift recently worked as director of European technology sales for Credit Suisse First Boston.

 

F&C Smaller Companies Trust manager Sandy Fleming is to be replaced by Peter Ewins, who currently runs their UK assets, on 1 August. Fleming's role as head of UK smaller companies has been given to Catherine Stanley, manager of the F&C Aim and UK Smaller Companies funds.

 

Ed Wallace has joined the Gartmore global equities team from H M Treasury.

 

Old Mutual head of fixed interest, Andrew Tunks is to take over management of the Dynamic Bond fund as Theresa Egan leaves the group. Chris Higham joins the fixed interest team as an assistant manager working with Tunks and Corporate Bond fund manager Stephen Snowdon.

 

Nick Roe-Ely has left Tilney Mutual Funds to join JO Hambro to manage a US growth fund planned for launch later in the year.

 

BNP Paribas have appointed Chantal Mazzacurati as head of their alternative investment management and structured and indexed management teams.

 

SWIP US equity fund manager Phil Chappell is stepping down from the management of the North American and North American Smaller Companies funds. Andrew Herberts moves up to lead manager.

 

Co-manager of the Gartmore UK Growth fund Eric Moore has left the company to join Insight. Moore joins Insight as a senior portfolio manager in the core UK equity team and reports to head of UK equities John Bearman. The Gartmore UK Growth fund will continue to be run by Jon Thornton and Sacha Sadan.

 

Manager of the F&C Sterling Corporate Bond fund, Peter Harvey, is joining Cazenove Capital Management in September to run an absolute return bond portfolio. The product to be launched by the end of this year.

 

F&C Stewardship Income fund manager Ted Scott is set to take over the management of the UK Growth & Income fund from Michael Gifford. Gifford will continue to manage the Equity Income fund.

 

M&G bond manager Jim Leaviss is taking an extended break from his duties with his funds being run by their various deputies until his return in September. Richard Woolnough will run the Gilt & Fixed Income fund as well as sharing the management of the Global Managed Bond fund with David Fancourt. Rob Whitten will run the European Corporate Bond fund and the High Interest fund will be run by Claire Brownand David Kneed.

 

Credit Suisse Asset Management global co-head of equities Greg Sawers has left the group leaving Mark Burgess as the global head of equities.

 

Rupert Morrell is joining Premier as European fund manager to replace James Buckley when he moved to his new position as European fund manager at Baring Asset management in the summer.

 

May

Chris Taylor has been appointed as lead manager of the Neptune Investment Management Japan Opportunities fund.

 

Peter Michaelis has taken over as head of socially responsible investment at Morley. Michaelis takes over after the previous head Clare Brook stepped down to focus on business development for the SRI business. Michaelis becomes lead manager on the Sustainable Future UK Growth and Sustainable Future Managed funds. The Sustainable Future Absolute Growth and Sustainable Future Global Growth funds are taken on by Paul Udall. Michaelis will continue to run the Norwich UK Ethical fund, while Julie Quinn will continue to run Sustainable Future European Equity and Mark Gull retains the Sustainable Future Corporate Bond fund. Brook and Michaelis both joined Morley in 2000.

 

Current Gartmore European Focus fund manager Gary Clarke is set to join Schroders later this year, though an exact role has not yet been announced.

 

Britannic have recruited Iain Hannah from Abbey National Asset Managers to run both retail and institutional US money. Hannah will report to head of US equities Alison Porter.

 

Chris Armstrong is to take over the management of the Framlington High Income fund from George Luckraft. This will enable Luckraft to concentrate on his Equity Income and Monthly Income funds.

 

Franklin Mutual Advisers chief investment officer and Mutual Shares fund manager David Winters has been replaced by Peter Langerman as manager of the Mutual Shares fund. Langerman also becomes chief executive of the group with Michael Embler being named as chief investment officer.

 

Schroders head of investment Richard Horlick is stepping down from the board of the company and his responsibilities are to be filled by Alan Brown, former group CIO and vice-chairman of State Street Global Advisers. Brown, who will be a member of Schroders’group management committee, assumes the role in July.

 

Paul Lavelle has taken over as manager of Fidelity’s US Dollar Bond fund, replacing Ian Spreadbury. In addition to the US Dollar Bond portfolio Lavelle manages Fidelity’s Euro Balanced and Euro Corporate Bond funds and some institutional mandates. Although Spreadbury has stepped down from this product, he continues to run the firm’s Sterling Bond fund as well as Euro High Yield, Extra Income and MoneyBuilder Income.

 

Stuart Stanley has been replaced by Andrew Wilmont as manager of the Axa Global High Income fund.

 

Premier European Growth fund manager James Buckley is moving to Barings in the summer to manage their European Growth fund. At this time Premier have not announced a replacement. Simon Hallet, the previous manager left Barings at the beginning of the month and the fund will be run by European desk head Susannah Lloyd until Buckley's arrival.

 

Sandi Merwitz has been appointed as a sector specialist in Investec's four factor equity team. Merwitz joins from LECG Europe and will report to head of global equities Mark Breedon.

 

F&C Asset Management have appointed Simon Clinch as director of US equities. Clinch was previously head of North American equities at Aberdeen Asset Management. He reports to F&C head of US equities Rupert Della-Porta.

 

Adrian Hickey joins F&C as director of Japanese equities. Hickey was previously with Shell Pensions Management Services and will report to F&C head of Pacific Basin equities Mike Hanbury-Williams.

 

Rob Burnett is to take over the management of the Neptune European Opportunities fund after Barry Norris and Oliver Russ left to establish their own boutique. Burnett has been with Neptune since 2002 and has been lead manager on the Japan Opportunities fund since last year. He will be assisted on the European Opps fund by Neptune founder, Robin Geffen.

 

Jeff Currington is joining Credit Suisse as head of European equities in July after leaving HSBC. He replaces Norbert Beiner who left Credit Suisse at the end of last month.

 

Quintin Price, joint Global CIO equities for Gartmore, is joining Merrill Lynch Investment Managers as CIO for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Pacific and will report to Merril's CIO Bob Doll.

 

Schroders CIO for Pacific ex Japan Equity, Leong Wah Kheong, has left the group and is being replaced by his deputy Robin Parbrook, who is taking over as head of Asia ex Japan equities in addition to taking responsibility for the Schroder Pacific and Schroder ISF Pacific funds.

 

Schroders have also made a number of appointments to their emerging markets desk. Waj Hashmi joins from WestLB Asset Management as a global emerging markets manager, Liesbeth Rubinstein as head of Europe, Mid-East and Africa from JPMorgan Fleming, along with Claudio Brocado as head of Latin America from Fidelity.

 

Franklin Templeton Investments have appointed Phillipe Brugere-Trelat as vice president and co-manager of the Sicav, Franklin Mutual European fund. He was previously president and portfolio manager of Eurovest.

 

Mark Booty has joined institutional investment manager Pictet Asset Management, as a senior investment manager looking at the global healthcare sector. Prior to joining Pictet Booty was head of pharmaceuticals and healthcare at Commerzbank Securities.

 

Peter Sartori has been replaced as manager of the Credit Suisse Orient fund by Boon-Hong Yeo.

Three members of the Threadneedle Investments high yield bond team have left to join a hedge fund. High Yield Bond fund deputy manager Steve Harrison and analysts Steve Windgate and Duncan Farley are the three to leave, with replacements expected to be found as the result of an internal reshuffle of existing personnel.

 

Stuart Eaton has joined Insight Investment as a UK equity fund manager. Eaton will report to head of UK equities John Bearman and was previously at Newton Investment Management where he was latterly director of investment management, specialist benchmark funds. Eaton will additionally be responsible for a range of institutional funds for HBOS group clients and is taking over management of five of the group’s pension fund offerings, Clerical Medical Performance Pension, Clerical Medical Unit Linked Life, CMI UK Equity, Halifax Special Situations and Bank of Scotland Balanced. Eaton is taking over all five funds from Jill Thompson who believed to be leaving the industry.

 

Neptune UK Equity fund manager Robin Geffen has relinquished management of the fund in order to concentrate on the group's UK Income portfolio. Management of the equity fund passes to Greg Bennet who was previously Geffen's deputy on the Income portfolio and manager of Neptune US Opportunities. Felix Wintle becomes manager of US Opportunities.

 

SG Asset Management have appointed David Benson as an analyst and UK equity product specialist. Benson joins from Deutsche Asset Management where he was director of UK institutional business development.

 

Darrell O’Dea is to step down as lead manager on Threadneedle’s European Select Growth fund to be replaced by his deputy Phil Cliff. O’Dea will remain on the fund as Cliff’s deputy and will continue to manage the Crescendo European fund.

 

Mark Westwood has stepped down as manager of three Legg Mason retail portfolios to work on life funds for Morley. Westwood was lead manager of the UK Equity, UK Income and UK Opportunities funds at Legg Mason and there are no immediate plans to replace him. Westwood will report to Lloyd Whitworth, the head of core UK equities at Morley.

 

Martin Currie have appointed Ross Watson to manage their UK Income fund which was previously managed by David Berry. Watson joined them from Aberdeen Asset Management in March.

 

Paris Anand is to take over the management of the DWS European Growth portfolio, replacing David Haysey who is leaving the company. Anand has been managing DWS's European Opportunities fund since last year.

 

Gareth Quantrill has resigned his position as manager of 6 of Scottish Widows' funds in order to join Henderson Global Investors as head of credit. Neil Murray will manage the Corporate Bond fund in addition to the Scottish Widows Strategic Income, Corporate Bond Plus and Extra Income portfolios. Murray will run the European Corporate Bond fund jointly with Steve Logan, while current head of bond fund management Stuart McMaster will be responsible for the High Yield portfolio as well as the offshore bond funds Quantrill ran for parent company Lloyds TSB.

 

Stuart Mitchell is leaving JO Hambro Investment Managers and being replaced by two new managers. Alexandra Pritchard will manage the European fund while the Waverton Pan European fund will be managed by Oliver Kelton.

 

Jacob De Wit has been appointed as head of fixed income at F&C Asset Management. De Wit joins from SNS Asset Management in the Netherlands. He replaces Helene Williamson who is to focus on investment management and assume the role of head of emerging debt.

 

Morley have appointed John Wilson and Nicole Mardell as analysts on the global equities team. Wilson was previously with HSBC Asset Management in Tokyo while Mardell joins from First State Investments.

 

A reshuffle at Henderson Global Investors sees a number of changes with Michael Wood-Martin return to running retail money after some time managing institutional mandates. Along with Jeremy Hall, Wood-Martin will co-manage the Henderson Japan Capital Growth Portfolio and the Horizon Japanese Equities fund. Mike Kerley takes over management of the Henderson Pacific Capital Growth and Horizon Pacific Equity funds from John Crawford, who has taken the role of head of Asian equities excluding Japan. Yun-Young Lee assumes the management of the Horizon Japanese Smaller Companies fund, taking over from Andrew Millard who is taking on Wood-Martin's institutional responsibilities.

 

Morley have appointed Victor Chu as an analyst on their emerging markets and Asian equities team. He joins from Mercers and will be working closely with manager of the Aviva funds and Asia Pacific Equity fund Sally Macdonald.

 

Max King has been appointed as co-manager of the Investec Managed Growth fund to work alongside Philip Saunders. Prior to joining Investec King was a director at JO Hambro Capital Management.

 

Julian Le Beron has been replaced as manager of the JPMorgan Fleming Global ex UK Bond fund, through he will reportedly still be involved with the fund after Seamus Brown takes over.

Chris Baggini has been appointed as co-manager of the Gartmore US Opportunities fund.

 

Threadneedle head of UK equities Graham Kitchen has taken over the management of the UK Accelerando and UK Select Growth funds following the departure of Mark Holden.

 

Spencer Howard has joined Britannic Asset Management as a property director at their Glasgow headquarters where he will be responsible for asset management and UK property holdings.

 

Morley Fund Management has made two new appointments to its strategy and economics team. Stewart Robertson has joined the group as senior economist of UK and Europe and James Kenney has been appointed as a derivatives analyst. Robertson joins from Lombard Street Research and Kenney joined in February from Mercer Investment Consulting.

 

Elizabeth Davis is appointed as a quantitative analyst at Rathbone Unit Trust Management.

 

Credit Suisse have appointed Ope Agbaje to their European credit research team.

 

Framlington Health and Biotech funds manager Antony Milford is to reduce his role. Although he will still have an input into stock selection he will no longer be working in a full time capacity. Deane Donnigan and Gareth Powell, co-managers of the Health and Biotech funds, along with Caspar Rock who co-manages the FIP Health fund will all take full control of their respective funds from April.

 

Gerald Smith will replace Richard Burns as manager of the Baillie Gifford Monks investment trust when Burns retires next month. Smith is already a partner in Baillie Gifford. Deputy chief investment officer and manager of the Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust, James Anderson, will replace Burns as chief investment officer.

Old Mutual Asset Managers have appointed Andrew Tunks as head of fixed income replacing Sofia Skalistiri who remains with the group as head of global bonds. Tunks was previously with Isis, leaving during the merger with F&C.

 

Martin Cholwill is to join Royal London as manager of the UK Equity Income trust with additional responsibilities for the group's UK equity income life and pension portfolios. Cholwill was formerly with Axa Investment Management and replaces Bradley Mitchell, who will manage the small and mid-cap elements of Royal London's life and pensions portfolio.

 

Ex Morley fund manager Gavin Corr has joined Merrill Lynch to run the offshore MLIIF fund. He will report to head of European equities James Macmillan.

 

JPMF Dynamic fund co-manager James Elliot has left the group, reportedly to join a hedge fund group. Elliot was head of European retail business and co-manager of a number of funds including the UK Dynamic fund, Premier Equity Growth fund and the Europe fund.

 

Vincent Rennie has been appointed as chief investment officer at Winterthur Life. He was previously head of investments and corporate treasury at Lincoln Investment Management.

 

Raj Hallen has left Premier where he was fund of funds manager, to be replaced by Ian Rees who currently runs Premier International Utilities and Premier European Utilities. Hallen has joined Skandia Investment Management as a fund manager, reporting to CIO Alan Durrant he will work on the group's multi-manager products.

 

Aberdeen Asset Managers have appointed Gary McAleese and Anne Richards as co managers of the Murray Income Trust. Previous manager Ross Watson is leaving to join Martin Currie as a director.

Slim Feriani has joined Progressive Asset Management as CIO of its emerging markets section.

 

F&C have appointed Rupert Brandt as lead manager of the Emerging Markets Investment Trust following the departure of Nick Timberlake. In addition to this new responsibility Brandt will retain his roles as director of emerging markets and manager of the Latin American Investment Trust and Latin American Equity Oeic.

 

Frank Ho and Jamie Lewin are appointed to Gartmore's Pacific and Emerging Markets Equities Team. Ho was previously Gartmore's Japanese technology analyst, Lewin was previously in their Strategic Research Unit.

 

Current F&C European and European Prime fund manager Davina Curling has taken over the management of the Foreign & Colonial Eurotrust, replacing Stephen White who remains with the company.

 

The vacant role of Chief Investment Officer at Aegon Asset Management is being filled by Andrew Fleming who has previously been CIO at ABN Amro and deputy CIO at Gartmore.

 

Simon Somerville has joined the Jupiter Asia team. He was previously head of global equities at Cazenove.

 

Russell Silbertson has rejoined Investec Asset Management after previously leaving to join Cazenove in 2001. He will be part of the fixed income team.

 

Newton Balanced fund manager Suzanne Rogers is leaving the company after some 13 years to join Capital International Funds. Iain Stewart will take over the management of the fund in addition to his management of the Newton Exempt and Absolute Intrepid funds.

 

Michael Gonnard has left Cazenove where he managed the UK Corporate Bond fund. He is replaced by Christopher Greaves who has previously worked as a credit analyst on the portfolio.

 

Ian Hargreaves and Stephanie Wu have joined the Asian equities team at Invesco Perpetual. Hargreaves joins from Invesco's Hong Kong team.

 

M&G have appointed Aled Smith to lead manager on the American Fund following the departure of Samantha Burden. George Tsinonis also becomes lead manager on the Blue Chip Fund. Tsinonis is also head of the equity structured products team.

 

Ingrid Kukulijan will take over the day to day running of the Jupiter Eastern European fund while current manager Elena Shaftan takes maternity leave from the end of April.

 

The death of former GAM fund manager John Mytton has seen a reorganisation of responsibilities. Lesley Kaye and Michael Lai have assumed the responsibility for the Pacific, Star Asia Pacific Equity and SEC Pacific Basin funds.

 

US manager Neil Smeaton has left Collins Stewart following the closure of their Edinburgh operation. The management of Smeaton's US Equity Focus fund has been passed to US boutique Boston Partners.

 

Henderson Global Investors equity income funds are to be managed by its investment trust team as part of an ongoing restructuring operation. James Henderson and Job Curtis will manage the Equity Income and Extra Income funds. John Patullo, manager of the Preference and Bond fund, retains responsibility for bond investment in the Extra Income portfolio.
